Coworking in Bali after four years of testing
I have worked from coworking spaces and cafe-offices across Ubud, Uluwatu, and Canggu since 2022. WiFi speed, AC reliability, community vibe, and coffee quality vary wildly even on the same street.
This ranking covers spaces I tested personally or returned to multiple times. Day passes run $5 to $15. Monthly memberships run $100 to $250. Many nomads skip formal coworking entirely and use cafes. I include both where relevant.

Canggu: the nomad coworking capital
Dojo Bali is the institution. Strong community, events, reliable WiFi, central Berawa location. Honest take: it became very social. I work mornings there when I need focus before the lunch crowd arrives. Monthly membership is premium priced for a reason.
Outpost Canggu is the other established name. Pool, restaurant, solid infrastructure, good for longer stays. Slightly more resort-feel than pure grind space.
Cafe alternatives: Nude, Old Man's, and several Berawa cafes function as unofficial offices. WiFi works but power outlets compete. Fine for email days, risky for video calls.
Ubud: cafes beat formal coworking
Ubud's coworking scene is smaller than Canggu but the cafe culture compensates.
Carlos Ubud and similar spaces offer quiet work environments away from main road traffic. Check current hours before committing.
Titi Batu Club ran about $8 day pass when I visited. Pool, gym access, restaurant, and workable WiFi. Good value if you want fitness and work in one stop.
7AM 7PM great cafe for work. Multiple floors with good WiFi. Best matcha I ever had.
Penestanan and central Ubud cafes serve nomads daily. Test speed before buying a second coffee. Rice field views do not guarantee upload bandwidth.
Uluwatu and the Bukit
The Bukit has fewer nomads but growing infrastructure.
The Loft in Uluwatu offers clean design, AC, and reliable WiFi. Good for Bukit-based surfers who work afternoons after morning sessions.
Lemanjá combines pool, restaurant, and work space. More lifestyle destination than pure coworking.
Cashew Tree works as cafe-office for lighter work days. Bingin and Uluwatu generally require scooters for everything. Factor transport into your coworking choice.
How I rank coworking spaces
- WiFi speed: Minimum 20 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up for video calls. I speed-test on arrival.
- Power access: Enough outlets at desks, not just near the register.
- AC and noise: Open-air sounds great until 32°C and scooter exhaust ruin your call.
- Community: Events and introductions matter if you are solo. Distraction if you need deep focus.
- Food onsite: Saves scooter trips. Quality varies.
- Price: Day pass under $15, monthly under $250 is my value threshold.
Quick ranking summary
| Space | Area | Best for | Day pass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dojo Bali | Canggu | Community, events | ~$15 |
| Outpost Canggu | Canggu | Long stays, pool | ~$12-15 |
| Titi Batu Club | Ubud | Gym + work combo | ~$8 |
| The Loft | Uluwatu | Bukit surfers | ~$10 |
| Lemanjá | Uluwatu | Lifestyle work days | Varies |
The honest take on Dojo
Dojo deserves its reputation. It also deserves the criticism. Midday is social hour. Afternoons get loud. If you need four hours of deep work, arrive at opening, take calls in phone booths, leave by lunch.
For community and meeting other nomads, Dojo still wins Canggu. For pure focus, test newer spaces or Ubud alternatives.
The free option: hotel lobbies and beach cafes
Many nomads never buy a coworking pass. They rotate cafes with confirmed WiFi, buy food and coffee as rent, and use hotel lobbies in a pinch.
This works until you need a guaranteed call slot. Then pay for a day pass somewhere with AC and backup internet.
I do hybrid weeks: two days coworking, three days cafe, one day from villa when connection is tested.
Seminyak and beyond Canggu
Seminyak has fewer dedicated coworking spaces but upscale cafes with reliable WiFi. Good for nomads who want beach proximity without Canggu scooter chaos.
Sanur and Denpasar offer urban coworking options most tourist guides ignore. If your clients are in Australian timezones, east coast Bali bases make surprising sense.
How I test WiFi before committing
Run speedtest.net on arrival. Minimum 20 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload for video calls. Test at the same time of day you normally work. Morning speeds in cafes often drop forty percent by afternoon when kitchens peak and more laptops appear.
Ask staff if fiber or DSL. Fiber is standard at serious coworking spaces. Cafes on shared connections fail unpredictably.
A typical nomad work week in Canggu
Monday and Wednesday: Dojo or Outpost morning sessions for focused work and community. Tuesday and Thursday: cafe rotation for lighter tasks. Friday: villa or quieter Ubud day trip for deep work.
That hybrid saved money versus full monthly membership while keeping enough structure to hit deadlines. Rigid coworking-only schedules fail in Bali because surf, ceremonies, and scooter breakdowns happen.
Black Sand Brewery in Canggu works for afternoon email sessions if you tolerate noise. The Loft in Uluwatu is my Bukit default for AC and focus. Carlos Ubud suits writers who want quiet over community. Match the space to the work type, not the Instagram aesthetic.
Save your favorites to a map
I pin every tested coworking space and cafe from our Canggu Beach, Surf & Food collection in ONVA with WiFi notes and day pass prices attached. When I switch from Uluwatu to Ubud for two weeks, I open one map instead of searching Notion notes from six months ago.
Save your top three spaces per area before you land. Test on day one. Commit monthly only after a full workday trial.
Emerging spaces worth watching in 2026
Bali coworking changes every year. Spaces that opened after 2022 often have newer fiber installs and less midday crowding than legacy names.
Search Google Maps for reviews from the last 30 days before trusting any list. Pin three candidates per area, test on day one, then commit monthly only after a full workday trial with video calls.
I keep a running Bali work map in ONVA with WiFi notes and day pass prices so I do not repeat failed cafe tests when I switch between Uluwatu and Canggu every few weeks.
If you are splitting time between areas, read our Ubud coworking guide for the cafe-heavy work culture there.
